How to Act Around the Opposite Sex

Well, people don’t know about this jam. Actually, some do but plenty don’t. Talib Kweli brought this Dilla produced jam to the forefront with lyrics that were simply soothing. Oh, and the singing of Bilal never hurts. Thus, if you are someone that wants to talk to someone just use this song.

Then again, many of us don’t know how to act around those that want to “talk to us”.

Question:

Okay…well…whenever I am liked by a guy, I always act strange. I never know what to say, so I just sit there and laugh. I get nervous about saying the wrong things. Nothing pops into my head. I don’t know what to say. My mind goes blank. Any suggestions?

Answer:

Sure, I have some suggestions.

1.) Breathe in, Breathe Out:

That a moment and relax yourself whenever you are approached. Focus on what it is that drives you wild. Is it the attraction of that special person? Is it the fact that you are being approached in the first place? Whatever it is, just take some time to breathe a bit before you give any initial response.

I know that outfit may be tight, but…..

2.) Asking them to repeat themselves:

Okay, so maybe you are amazed that they even approached you in the first place. To give yourself more time to respond, just ask them to repeat what they said. Hell, I used to do it all the time. I still do. It allows for a respectful response to be formulated in your mind.

3.) Having a response ready in mind:

Or, you can always be prepared for any type of thing that is said to you. Many times, people know what to say and when to say it. Some of us are just that prepared. We have an understanding of what may be said and we know how to anticipate situations. Some things are not going to be spontaneous.

If you know what the situation calls for, always be a step ahead….

4.) Talk, talk, and talk:

Whether you like them or not, you have to talk. You have to relax and be able to formulate a sentence long enough to say either “you are hot” or “Sorry, but your friend is hotter”. What you NEED to do is be able to talk to them in a way that will let them down easy or lift them up within the cosmos. Words are power. The pen is mightier than the sword.

Except in a sword fight. I wouldn’t be able to take out Jon Snow with a pen.

In the end, you have to make sure you express yourself without getting your nerves wracked. Make sure you take time to relax by breathing. Also, you can know what you will say before you say it. Even then, you always want to make sure they say what they say (again) if you need more time to find something to say. After that, you need to be able to use words as your representation. Therefore, if you stay ready you won’t have to worry about getting ready.
